La pi\u00e8ce est c\u00e9l\u00e8bre pour sa formule : \u00ab\u00a0il ne se passe rien, deux fois\u00a0\u00bb. Il n&rsquo;y a pas d&rsquo;action traditionnelle, les dialogues sont absurdes et les situations se r\u00e9p\u00e8tent sans fin.<\/p>\n<p>La pi\u00e8ce provoqua un v\u00e9ritable scandale \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9poque. Durant les premi\u00e8res semaines de repr\u00e9sentation, la moiti\u00e9 de l&rsquo;auditoire quittait la salle avant la fin de l&rsquo;acte I, tandis que d&rsquo;autres spectateurs agac\u00e9s choisissaient de rester pour perturber d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9ment le jeu des acteurs en les huant et en cr\u00e9ant du bruit. Chaque soir, Godot \u00e9tait le d\u00e9clencheur de batailles acharn\u00e9es opposant les d\u00e9fenseurs de la pi\u00e8ce aux m\u00e9contents.<\/p>\n<p>La situation a finalement d\u00e9g\u00e9n\u00e9r\u00e9 en une violente altercation, conduisant au baisser de rideau pr\u00e9matur\u00e9 au d\u00e9but de l&rsquo;acte II.
